Compared to some other weeks, this one was pretty slow in terms of PS5 restock events. We started the week off with back-to-back drops at PlayStation Direct, and then yesterday GameStop had an in-store bundle available for purchase. Outside of that, we didn’t see any of the other big retailers come through with consoles, but the week isn’t quite over yet. There is a  report from the @PS5StockUpdates Twitter account that suggests we may see a restock at Amazon this week, though no one has been able to reliably predict when those would happen. We haven’t seen the console available at Amazon…

The most important button on the original Xbox wasn’t the power button: it was the button to eject the disc tray. Conceptually, this doesn’t make sense. Of course the power button should be the most important button — it turns on (and off) the whole console. But that attitude is steeped in our understanding of modern devices, where our games and apps are far more self-contained than they were during the original Xbox’s heyday. The console’s design reflects the eject button’s priority. The disc eject button is bigger, higher up, and surrounded by an LED ring in the console’s iconic…

Samsung’s next Unpacked event is just around the corner. The company announced Tuesday that it’s holding an event on Feb. 9 to introduce its next-generation Galaxy S devices, which will presumably be referred to as the Galaxy S22 lineup. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first film in the pandemic to hit $1 billion in global box office receipts, and its streaming strategy surely helped pack fans into theaters — since the movie hasn’t been streaming at all. Last year saw an unprecedented number of new theatrical movies released on streaming services the same day they hit cinemas. HBO Max, in particular, has become synonymous with the practice. HBO Max isn’t streaming Spider-Man: No Way Home, though. And even though actor Tom Holland’s Spider-Man appears routinely in Disney’s Marvel movies, that doesn’t mean the latest Spider-Man movie is coming anywhere near Disney Plus for a long…

Earlier this week, Neil Young pulled his music from Spotify after falling out with the platform over its hosting of Joe Rogan and COVID misinformation. So now, of course, rival streamer Apple Music is courting Young and his fans, sending out tweets, playlists, and even push notifications to brand itself as “The home of Neil Young.” It’s all a bit of theatrical silliness, of course. Neil Young is a legendary songwriter, yes, but his presence or absence won’t decide the fate of this or that streaming platform. He’s no Kanye or Taylor Swift. Instead, Apple is simply indulging in the…

Whether you use Firefox, Samsung Internet or Google Chrome to browse the web on your Android phone, you might notice some lag from time to time — even when your internet connection is perfectly fine. If you’ve got a slow-loading browser on your hands, there’s a likely culprit to consider: data. With practically every website you visit, your browser collects data. This can be helpful; for example, it can mean your browser loads your frequently visited sites faster. But if all this data collecting goes unchecked for long enough, it can clog up your cookies and cache, leading to an…

The streaming platform will…
